Hello, my name is Aeriyana Josephson and I’m an 11 year old from Regina, SK. I sing and play ukelele. I’ve been in singing lessons for 6 years and started playing Ukelele 2 years ago. There’s a bit of a unique story as to how I received my ukelele.

My Grandpa and I were very close. He was slowly passing away from Cancer and he knew he didn’t have much time left. Before he went to the hospital we were at a music store together. I was in the ukelele section where I ended up picking one up and playing random cords. I had no clue what I was doing but I was having fun! When my Grandpa went to the hospital he asked my Grandma to get me a ukelele for Christmas and to say it was from him because he knew he wasn’t going to make Christmas. My Grandma honored his request and sadly my Grandpa had passed away on October 22, 2021.

I got the ukelele and lessons from him on Christmas and in return I decided that I would learn songs he used to play on his guitar. So, I started learning with Hallelujah, and Country Roads. About last year I started to learn some songs for myself like Riptide and The Only Exception. I’m very proud of myself!

I also happen to be a third year Guide with The Girl Guides of Canada. Part of earnings my Lady Baden Powell award is to complete a service project. I started to think about where I wanted to be able to give back. I ended up helping my Mom at work this summer for a bit due to an unexpected accident. She owns a small hair salon and goes on location to help provide services to people with disabilities and/or mobility challenges. I started to get to know some of her clients while assisting with some small tasks like helping with her bags and laundry. They were so nice and I want to be able to help give back. My goal is $3000 and I hope I can make it!
